Buzkashe means goat dragging.  This is the central Asian sport in which horse-mounted players attempt to drag a goat or calf carcass toward a goal. It is the national sport of Afghanistan.Traditioinally games  could last for several days but in its more regulated tournament version it has a limted time.



  HISTORY     

Buzkashe may have began with the nomadic Mongol people, who have come from north and east spreading west world.From China and Mongolia between 10th and 15th centuries.


DISTRIBUTION

Today Buzkashe is played by several Asian ethnic group, Kazaks Uzbek and Turkmens.
Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Uzbikistan, Tajikistan.


RULES

1- Not to whipping a fellow rider intentionally or deliberately knocking him off his horse.

2- Riders usually wear heavy clothing and head protection to protect themselves against other players whips and boots.

3- A Buzkashe player is called Chapandaz.

4- The skill full Chapandaz is usually in his 40 the nature of the game requires its player to under go severe physical practice and observation. And the horses used in buzkashe also need training and due attention. Land lords and highly rich people owned the horses.

  2. The pictures make this post really exciting. I also really like your explanation of the rules. I never really understood what the riders could and couldn't do. How do they establish a winner?
    What other sports do you want to tell us about? Didn't Afghanistan win a major cricket tournament recently?
